Welcome to the Pay Zero for College Scholarship Site
in Partnership with the Detroit HBCU Network
Each month, a $500 scholarship will be awarded by the HBCU Network Detroit to one family. The student recipient will be chosen through a lottery conducted by the Detroit HBCU Network. Eligibility requirements will be verified prior to the selection.
✅ The student must currently attend, transferring to, or be on their way to attending an HBCU as a freshman student.
✅ The form must be completed by the parent(s).
✅ The family/student must NOT be recipients of need-based funding, Pell Grants, or other low-income funding.
✅ A family can only apply once in a year.
✅ Students cannot apply individually.
✅ Selected families agree to participate in a photo opportunity to help promote the site.

Why is this scholarship available for families not qualified for need-based funding?
After interviewing over 1,000 families, we have found that this community feels underserved. They have expressed that they are often overlooked for scholarships and financial aid opportunities. This scholarship aims to address that need.
